Sudang Foundation Holds the 28th Sudang Awards Ceremony Facebook Tweeter Print

The Sudang Foundation, chaired by director Kim Sang-ha, held the 28th Sudang Awards ceremony at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul on September 9.

In this year's edition, a prize of KRW 100 million was presented to each of the award-winners, who included △ Lee Hyung-mok (63), professor of Physics and Astronomy at Seoul National University, who was honored in the category of Basic Sciences; △ Kwon Ik-chan (60), senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), recognized in the category of Applied Sciences; and △ Lee Tae-Jin (76), professor emeritus of the Department of Korean History at Seoul National University, who was decorated in the category of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The ceremony started with the greetings from Kim Sang-Ha, chairman of the Sudang Foundation, followed by a progress report presented by Jin Jeong-il, chairman of the Sudang Awards Committee. After this, Jang Jeong-sik, member of the Evaluation Committee, walked the attendees through the evaluation process and then gave way to the screening of a video introducing the awardees, who shortly after received their awards and were given a chance to address the audience. Following the acceptance speeches, the event concluded with the congratulatory words of Yoo Chong-ha, former director of the Korean Red Cross.
