Samyang Group joined ‘Thanks to You Challenge’ and extended respect and gratitude to medical professionals and citizens in Korea.

Samyang Group (Chairman Yoon Kim) announced on July 16 that they joined the ‘Thanks to You Challenge’, which encourage all the people overcoming COVID-19.

Thanks to You Challenge is a public campaign started by Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to overcome COVID-19. It is a relay event where a participant posts his or her picture of gesturing the word ‘respect’ in sign language along with a hashtag on social media and nominates the next participant. While it was first intended for medical professionals, the campaign expanded from July 6 to encourage all people working hard to fight for COVID-19.

Chairman Yoon Kim joined the campaign as designated by GS Caltex President Huh Se-hong. Chairman Kim nominated Korea University President Chung Jin-taek as the next participant.

Chairman Kim said, “I would like to extend my respect and gratitude to all the medical professionals working day and night behind the scenes in this difficult times. I believe that all Korean people would overcome this hardship united as one. I hope everyone is back to healthy and normal lives as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Samyang Group is carrying out various activities to stop the spread of COVID-19 and contribute to disaster relief. Back in March, Samyang Corporation, Samyang Packaging, and Samyang Biopharmaceuticals Corporation donated funds and goods worth KRW 150 million to Korean Red Cross. Before joining a group-wide donation initiative, Samyang Biopharmaceuticals Corporation, a biomedical affiliate, donated 50 non-contact thermometers, which are in high demand throughout healthcare facilities, to Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, a regional hospital in Daegu designated for COVID-19. Other affiliates also gathered efforts to overcome the crisis in the local community: Jincheon Factory of Samyang Packaging donated food products to Daedeok-gu Volunteering Center, while the Yeosu Factory of Samnam Petrochemical donated KRW 10 million to Munsu Social Welfare Center in Yeosu.
